Office Policies
NEW PATIENTS
We accept new patients for cardiac and vascular consultation, diagnosis and treatment. We will make appointments for the earliest date possible. Please obtain and forward copies of your medical records from other physicians to us prior to your appointment with Cardiology Associates. Please bring your insurance cards with you to each visit as it will facilitate our administrative processes.
APPOINTMENTS
We see patients by referrals and appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please have your primary care provider call (906) 225-3870 during business hours. Our business hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If you must cancel an appointment, please give us 24 hours notice.
Upon arrival, please see the receptionist where she will make sure we have the most current information on you as possible. To help your physician devise the most appropriate treatment plan for you, please bring a current list of your medications (both prescription and over-the-counter). Also, please confirm that copies of your medical records have been sent to us by your referring physician, or bring them with you to your appointment.
CALLING US
When you call us during business hours, our automated attendant will direct you to the most appropriate person to take your call. If the person you need to speak with is away from their desk or on another call, you will be connected to that person’s voice mail or a message will be taken. Normally, for clinical inquiries we will take a message for the nurse, pull your chart, and return your call. We make every effort to return calls immediately, however, the person you call may be with a patient. In this case, your call will be returned as soon as possible.
If you call with an urgent problem, please let the receptionist know so that we can respond appropriately.
EMERGENCIES
If you are an established Cardiovascular Associates patient and are experiencing complications, or if you need immediate assistance, please go to your local emergency room, or dial your local emergency telephone number (911). Tell them that you are a Cardiology Associates patient, and they will contact our doctor on call.
PRESCRIPTIONS
Often, we can refill prescriptions over the phone. For certain prescriptions, however, we request that you come in for re-evaluation before refilling. When you call for refills, please have ready the name and quantity of your medication as well as your pharmacy phone number. It is a good idea to have the prescription bottle with you when you call so you can confirm the spelling and dosage of your prescription.
PAYMENT AND INSURANCE
For your convenience, you may pay by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard. We appreciate your payment at the time of your office visit.
We participate with many insurance plans and will bill non-participating plans for you as a courtesy. However, health plans vary in what they cover. Therefore, we ask you to be aware of what your health plan covers, and your responsibilities for deductibles and co-payments.
If you have financial difficulty with a medical bill, please call our Billing Department at (906) 225-3870 about developing a payment plan.
